Rita Marie O'Connor

Rita M. OConnor, 83, formerly of Jaffrey, died April 1, 2011 at the Schervier Nursing Care Center in Riverdale NY following a period of failing health.

She was born January 14, 1928 in Concord NH, daughter of the late George and Mary (LaFlamme) McInnis. She grew up in Concord attending local schools, and had graduated from Presentation of Mary Academy, in Hudson NH.

Rita worked as an office manager and medical assistant for Franklin W. Sterling MD in Jaffrey and later for Thomas Kottke at the Kottke Chiropractic Clinic in Rindge before retiring in 2004. As a young lady she had worked at the American Guernsey Cattle Club in Peterborough.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick Parish in Jaffrey; she also enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and relatives.

She married Richard M. OConnor on April 3, 1948. He died February 7, 1997.

Rita is survived by her daughter Maureen OConnor and her husband Dennis Murphy of Brooklyn NY; a granddaughter Katy Murphy of Brooklyn NY; Ritas brother George McInnis and his wife Louise of NY,NY; and a sister Pauline Foyle of Madison CT; several nieces and nephews including Thomas Foyle, Richard Foyle, Jennifer Foyle, Daniel McInnis and Peggy Helfort, cousins Edwina and Dick Auclair of Concord NH and a Goddaughter Suzanne Foyle; also many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Patrick School, 70 Main Street, Jaffrey NH 03452 or to Schervier Nursing Care Center, 2975 Independence Ave., Riverdale NY 10463.

Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attended calling hours which will be held Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street in Jaffrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Thursday at 12:00Noon in St. Patrick Church 89, Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev Wilfred H. Deschamps, pastor, will officiate.
