Rindge, New Hampshire Robert F. ‘Bob’ Smith, 66 of Rindge died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a sudden illness. Bob was born on June 27, 1945 in Brockton, MA, son of the late Charles and Phyllis (Webber) Smith. He was a graduate of Abington (MA) High School and had proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged in 1970, Bob relocated to NH where he had worked for several of the local construction companies including Monadnock Fabricators, Seppela & Aho, and Park Construction. He was a member of the John Humiston Post #11, American Legion and the Jaffrey VFW Memorial Post #5613, both of Jaffrey. Bob enjoyed playing golf and visiting with his friends at the club while playing cards. He was an avid reader of murder mystery novels and was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Bob loved his dogs and would always bring them along for the ride wherever he went. Bob is survived by his wife of 26 years, Paula (Couillard) Smith of Rindge, NH; his daughter Kimberly O’Brien and her husband William of Swanzey, NH; his 3 grandchildren, Erin, Brooke and William O’Brien, all of Swanzey, NH and many cousins and close friends.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Jaffrey VFW Memorial Post #5613, PO Box 483, Jaffrey, NH 03452.

At Bob’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Bob on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 12:00 NOON at the Jaffrey VFW Memorial Post #5613 Hall, 12 Hathorn Road in Jaffrey where Military Honors will be rendered, light lunch will be served and many stories will be shared.
