Robert L. Kincaid

Robert L. Kincaid passed away on August 21st, 2012 at his home in Hudson, Florida after a courageous fight against cancer. He was born July 16, 1937 in Fitchburg, MA, son of the late Leslie and Mary (Gooley) Kincaid. Robert was a graduate of Ashby High School in 1955 and went on to serve in the US Navy. He spent most of his adult life in New Ipswich and he had recently moved to Hudson, FL where he resided for the last few years. Robert was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt in the woods of NH and to go fishing at Plum Island. He was a lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan. He loved to travel, spend time with his family, including trips up to Thompson Lake in Maine and had a compassion for animals. He spent 25 years as a volunteer firefighter with the last 4 years as Fire Chief for the town of New Ipswich. His dedication to public service also included positions on the planning board, as animal control officer, and on numerous organizations within the town on New Ipswich. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Viitanen) of Hudson, FL; his son Kevin Kincaid and Leah of Portland, ME; his daughters Denise Coll and her husband Bruce of Jaffrey and Brenda Beckmann and her husband Neil of New Ipswich, NH; 7 grandchildren, Brian Desmarais, Andrew and his wife Brittni Desmarais, Eric Beckmann and his wife Krystle, Joshua and Chad Beckmann, Adam Coll and his wife Whitney and Erin Coll; 2 great grandchildren, Xander Coll and Ashlyn Beckman; his sisters, Roberta Whitney, Ruth Ann Cormier and Kathleen Blain; and brothers, Ronald and James Kincaid. Burial will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA on Monday, September 10th at 11:00 AM where the US Navy will render Military Honors for Mr. Kincaid. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Kincaid’s name to the New Ipswich Fire Department, P.O. Box 357, New Ipswich, NH 03071. Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 7th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202 South) Jaffrey, NH.
