Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire Roger P. Davis, Sr. 70, of Fitzwilliam, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 following a period of failing health. He was born in Rindge, NH on July 19, 1940. He attended Conant High School in Jaffrey and Cooley Dickerson Community High School in Chapman, Kansas. He was the son of Richard and Rosealma (Duval) Davis of Rindge, and a resident of Fitzwilliam since 1990. He loved his parents dearly, and was a constant companion to his Mom after his father died. His loving care allowed her to continue living at her home until just before her death in 2008. He made his mothers lawn the envy of many neighbors. Roger entered the Air Force in July of 1957 and received his basic medical training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. From there he went to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and then to Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio. He spent 15 years in the U.S. Air Force Civil Service from 1962-1977. He re-entered the Air Force in 1977 at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA. He spent December 1990 through August 1992 at Ramstein AFB in Germany in support of Desert Storm. He retired from the service in 1993 after working in the military for 35 years. On returning home from the service, he worked as a part-time custodian at the Rindge Memorial School from 1993 to 2005. During that time, he also worked part-time at the Fitzwilliam Recycling Center for 12 years. Those who knew Roger loved him. He was interested in everyone, and truly cared about their lives and families. He was a loyal friend and was always willing to help others in need. His favorite thing to do was spend time with family and relatives and converse with his friends at the VFW in Jaffrey. He loved football, and was a devoted Red Sox fan. He had a soft spot in his heart for children and brought much happiness and lots of smiles from the students at Rindge Memorial. His favorite music was western and he loved the music of the 50s and 60s. He loved animals of all kinds, especially cats and dogs. He cared for his mothers six cats for two years after her death, and throughout the years had many animals of his own that were treated royally. He fed the squirrels, chipmunks, birds, deer, turkeys, raccoons, bears and whatever came into his yard.
