Jaffrey, New Hampshire Stephen C. Record, 16, of Jaffrey, died on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene as a result of injuries he received in an automobile accident. Stephen was born on March 23, 1991 in Gardner, MA, son of Ronald W. and Lisa M. (Bumpus) Record, Jr. He was in his Junior year at Conant High School and a lifelong resident of Jaffrey. Stephen had the ability to brighten any room he walked into and was considered a leader by family and friends alike. He excelled academically and was a member of Conants Student Council. Stephen had also recently attended a Department of Homeland Security Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. Stephen loved competing in a variety of sports. This year, Stephen was the co-captain of Conants Varsity Basketball team and also played on Conants Soccer and Baseball teams. Stephen had been selected to compete in the A.A.U. Basketball Tournament and was able to pass along that added experience to younger athletes when he worked as an assistant coach and counselor at the Pure Shot Basketball Camp in Jaffrey. Stephen enjoyed his occasional trips and vacations to Cape Cod and Maine. He thoroughly enjoyed his family, friends and life in general and he loved and respected his entire family. Stephens most cherished times were those spent with his lil bro J. P. Stephen was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather, Ronald W. Record on August 29, 1993, and his Maternal Grandmother, Sharon L. Bumpus on August 3, 1998. Stephen is survived by his mother Lisa of Jaffrey, NH; his father Ronald and his fiancée Kelly Coll of Rindge, NH; his brother J.P. of Jaffrey, NH; his Maternal Grandfather, Peter Bumpus and his fiancée Betsy Cormier of Rindge, NH; his Paternal Grandmother, Pearl Record of Jaffrey, NH; his maternal Great-Grandmother, Mrs. William Bumpus of Hubbardston, MA; his extended siblings, Ben and Emily Coll and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a scholarship fund in memory of Stephen, to recognize a graduating Conant High School student, leader and athlete. Memorial contributions may be mailed to The Stephen Record Scholarship Fund, TD BankNorth, 497 Route 202, Rindge, NH 03461

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Sunday, December 30, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey. There will be shuttle buses running from the Conant High School parking lot to the funeral home from 4-7 on Sunday for calling hours, and again on Monday from 10-2 from the high school parking lot to Saint Patrick Church and back for the Mass and reception at the gym afterwards.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring.
