Thelma M. Turner, 83, died on May 18, 2011 at home surrounded by her family after a period of failing health.

Thelma was born March 8, 1928 in Peterborough, the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Greenwood) Clark. She graduated from Peterborough High School in 1946 and lived her entire life in town.

Thelma worked at the E.A. Bishop Co. for several years and then worked for Hayden S. Pearson, a columnist and author for the Boston Herald. In 1992 she retired as secretary and receptionist after working for the Town of Peterborough for 25 years.

Her passions in life were family and friends. She especially enjoyed walks on the beach with her great grandson and spending time with friends. Giving back to the community through volunteering held special meaning for Thelma. She volunteered for Monadnock
Community Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Project Linus, and the Peterborough Library.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Charles M. Turner; two daughters, Sandra Turner of Peterborough andSusan Monkton and her husband Cliff of Peterborough, a brother Leslie R. Clark, his wife Thelma of Peterborough, a grandson Matthew Boyd, his wife Jennifer and great grandson Zackery Charles Boyd of Bennington, and several nieces and nephews.

ln lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent in loving memory of her to
Monadnock Community Hospital or The Place To Go.

Thelma wished that no formal services be held.
