Theodore 'Ted' Miner

June 2, 1948 — April 6, 2015

Theodore “Ted” Miner, Jr., 66, of Jaffrey died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, April 6, 2015. Ted was born on June 2, 1948 in Keene, NH, son of Theodore C. and Doris (Voudren) Miner, Sr. He was raised and educated in Marlborough, NH and attended Memphis State College in Memphis, TN. Ted was an outstanding athlete, excelling in Soccer, Basketball and Baseball, and while in college, he helped start the Soccer program at Memphis State. Locally, Ted played in the Greater Keene Men’s Softball Association and helped his teams earned 8 consecutive Keene city class A championships. He also enjoyed playing on the Jaffrey Eagles softball team and his family even sponsored the Miner’s Softball team in Keene for many years. Ted and his family owned and operated T. C. Miner & Sons, a lumber and sawmill business in Jaffrey from 1969 until it sold in 1989. Ted then worked for the municipal departments in North Swanzey briefly and then for the Town of Jaffrey from 1996 to 2000, but he soon found his way back to his true love of forestry and had most recently been working as a log buyer at the Monadnock Timber Exchange in Fitzwilliam. Ted was a great guitarist and was always playing and learning new music. He had grown to dislike our winters and grew to love the frequent vacations in Cancun with his wife by his side. He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds in his backyard, and he truly loved and cherished spending time with his entire family and friends whenever possible. Ted was predeceased by his father and by his twin sons, Timmy at birth, and Teddy in 1997. Ted is survived by his mother, of Keene; his wife of 32 years, Elsie (Paradise) Miner of Jaffrey; his 2 daughters, Dena and her husband Joe Catan of Southbury, CT and Jen and her husband Bob Valaika of Park City, Utah; his 3 sons, Micah and Jenn Miner of Winchester, CA, Lucas Miner of Rindge, NH and Ed Huckle and his wife Rachel Savitt of Culver City, CA; his grandchildren, Addy Miner of Winchester CA, and Makenna Miner, of Sanford, ME, Sarah, Gabby and Jack Catan of Southbury, CT, and Bobby and Cameron Valaika of Park City, Utah; his sister Donna and her husband Fred Bingham and his sister Deb and her husband John Zilske, all of Keene, NH; his brother Tim and his wife Jolene Miner of Marlborough, NH along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service which will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey.
