Victoria Claire Willis, 91, of Squantum Road Jaffrey, died peacefully Wednesday September 8, 2010 at SummerHill Assisted Living in Peterborough.

She was born December 26, 1918 in Woodstock CT, daughter of the late Medric and Amelia (Barron) Despres. She had attended schools in Manchester NH

Mrs. Willis served in the United States Army during World War II, as a Medical Aide with WAC Detachment #19 and was stationed in Europe.

Following the War she returned to Jaffrey and worked for W.W. Cross Company for more than thirty two years before her retirement.

On November 24, 1949 she married George Andrew Willis. He died July 1, 2007 following fifty seven years of marriage.

She and her husband formerly owned and operated the Willis Guest House in Squantum. Mrs. Willis enjoyed the out of doors but she most especially enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter Jane Willis of Jaffrey; two sons Charles M. Willis of Fairview Heights, Illinois and Joseph G. Willis of Jaffrey; five grandchildren Jessica, Christine, Andrea, Sharon and Andrew; two great granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Roger A. Willis on April 3, 1996.

Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Patrick Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev Wilfred H. Deschamps, pastor will officiate.
