William C. McKay

April 14, 1954 — May 1, 2021

Bill McKay passed away peacefully on May 1, 2021 at home with his family after a losing his battle with cancer.

Bill grew up in an Air Force family and lived all over the United States, as well as overseas, where he learned how to make friends fast, and make fast friends-a skill which served him well throughout his life. He spent his teenage years in Wilton NH and, following in his father’s footsteps, Bill served in the Air Force after his graduation in 1972. This paved the way for him to pursue his lifelong dream of being a pilot, finally retiring after 30 years with American Airlines.

Bill was a guy who couldn’t sit still, so he learned how to do everything. There was nothing he wouldn’t try, and nothing he wouldn’t try to build bigger and better. As a result, he left his mark everywhere he went. It was the same with the people he met. His presence will be felt forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

Bill was predeceased by his son, Daniel McKay, on September 5, 2016.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy (Kincaid) McKay; his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Lesli McKay; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jake and Patience McKay, and his great granddaughter, Evelyn McKay. He is also survived by his mother, Pearl Sumida, his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Keith Robb, his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Diane McKay, as well as a wide array of family and friends who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, June 05, 2021, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at the Horseshoe Fish & Game Club, 44 Greens Pond Road, Merrimack, NH 03054.
