In Loving Memory of Ann E. Chamberlain
September 13, 1931 – October 30, 2026
Jaffrey, NH
Ann Elizabeth (Athy) Chamberlain, age 95, of Jaffrey, NH, passed away very peacefully, surrounded by her family at the Cheshire Medical Center, on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Mom was born on Sunday, September 13, 1931, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Mary (McHugh) and Patrick Athy. Her parents were from County Mayo, Ireland. Mom was predeceased by her two brothers, Jim and Paul. Her sister Barbara Athy survives her.
Mom graduated from Newton Massachusetts High School, Class of 1949. After graduation she worked for MacMillian Publishing Co., in Boston.
On May 26, 1956, she married our dad, Francis “Mickey” Chamberlain at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Brighton, MA. They were married nearly 63 years before Dad passed in February 2019.
They raised five children: Kevin (Terry), Karen (Berta), Peter, Mark and David (Erin).
She was a communicant at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jaffrey, NH.
She was a member of the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce, the Jaffrey Civic Center and the Jaffrey Historical Society.
Once all of her children were enrolled in school, Mom returned to work at D.D. Bean and Sons. After 24 years as an Administrative Secretary, she retired.
Mom and Dad travelled to England and Ireland a couple of times and visited family in both countries. They went to Clearwater Beach Florida for ten winters to enjoy the sunshine and warmth and escape the snow and cold of New Hampshire. They ventured across the USA twice in the late 90’s. These trips coincided with family visits to Colorado and Wisconsin.
Family was extremely important to Mom. Her happiness and pure joy were evident because all five of her children were in New Hampshire. It meant the world to her.
She was overjoyed at becoming a grandmother, affectionately known as Nana. Her grandchildren are Joshua, Adam, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Shawn, Mariah, Kendall and Matthew. Her Irish eyes smiled and grew ever brighter when great grandchildren became part of her life. Her great grandchildren are Carter, Gavin, Jax, Rowan, Riley, Jase, Aiden, Ayla and Abel.
There are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who she extended her love to, along with many, many special friends and neighbors.
We would like to thank Jaffrey Rehab, who cared for Mom from June 2026 until her passing.
To Cheshire Medical Center, we are so grateful for the care Mom received in the Emergency Room and on the Kingsbury Unit. Special thanks to our hospice nurse, Chelsea Nadeau. We appreciate ALL of you helping us through a difficult time.
Godspeed Mom; you are in our hearts forever.
