Anne E. Hennessy

January 21, 1931 — September 10, 2021

Anne E. (Thompson) Hennessy, passed peacefully at home with her children on September 10, 2021, at the age of 90.

Anne was born in Nashua, NH on January 21, 1931 a daughter of the late William and Ruth (Martin) Thompson. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1948 and later received her bachelor's degree from Colby College, Waterville Maine, followed by her Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University. Anne taught deaf children in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and then Crotched Mountain School for the Deaf. There she met her husband, Brian.

In 1962 they purchased an old farmhouse in Antrim with beautiful land. Within this home Anne successfully opened and operated The Wool Room at Meadow Brook Farm. A lifelong passion for woolen and fibers and its craft put Anne in the face of the community. While known for her expertise in knitting and spinning, her shop built a following locally, regionally and nationally. She sold goods of the crafts, taught spinning and knitting lessons to hundreds of people of all ages. It was a labor of love. She wanted to teach everyone her skills. She knew everyone and remembered their names, what projects they were working on or finished. She truly cared about the people she had connections within her life.

Anne is predeceased by her husband Brian P. Hennessy and brother William R. Thompson.

She also leaves her daughter Kristen Stenberg, and sons Jay and wife, Brenda, all of Antrim, and Dana and wife, Patricia, of Dublin; five grandchildren, Erik, Evan and Mark Stenberg. Lisa Hennessy and Sarah Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Kendra, Simon, Waylon, Charlotte, and Levi; and extended family and friends.

Following Anne’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.
