Arline J. Cota

Arline J. Cota, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born on May 16, 1931, a beloved daughter of Joseph E. and Josephine (Avard) Gagnon.

Arline was a 1949 graduate of Conant High School and would continue with her education and graduate from the Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Arline was a compassionate and caring nurse for over 30 years.

Arline had a lifelong love of travel and adventure, both in the country and abroad. She spent many years exploring the United States in her R.V., creating cherished memories along the way. Though she remained a proud lifelong resident of Jaffrey, spending more than 80 years at the family farm on Lacy Road, she also enjoyed 30 years at her seasonal home in Sun City, Arizona, a place that brought her great happiness.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Arline was a devoted and lifelong parishioner of St. Patrick Church Jaffrey and would make it her mission to never miss a mass or a celebration. She found great peace and joy in her faith, which shaped her compassionate nature and the way she cared for others.

Above all, Arline’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, sharing an especially close bond with her daughter, Jodie, whose unwavering love and support meant so much to her. Her grandsons were truly the light of her life, she made sure to never miss a game, whether it was football, baseball or basketball. Arline treasured every moment spent with her family and created countless memories through the gatherings and celebrations she so lovingly hosted.

Arline was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years in 2013, Ernest Cota, and her sister Leona Gagnon.

She is survived by her children, Jodie Cota of Keene, NH, and Mark and his wife Michelle (Shelby) Cota of Jaffrey, NH, also her cherished grandsons, Alex and Tyler Cota.

Family and friends are warmly invited to a calling hour from 5:30pm to 6:30 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452. A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated immediately following the visitation in the funeral home chapel. Arline will be buried beside her husband in Saint Patrick Cemetery at the convenience of her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Arline’s name to Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
