Arthur L. Hixson, age 93, a longtime resident of Hancock, NH, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Arthur was born on May 19, 1932, a son of the late Edwin L. and Clara M. (Walton) Hixson.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from June 1951 through June of 1955, earning an honorable discharge and receiving the National Defense Service Ribbon in recognition of his faithful service during a pivotal time in American history. A devoted patriot and proud veteran, he carried the values of duty, humility, and perseverance throughout his life. After his time in the Navy, he returned to Massachusetts to marry the love of his life, Lois Driscoll, and together they raised their six children there before eventually moving north and settling in Hancock in 1979. They built a life centered on hard work, integrity, and devotion to family. Arthur was a career oil burner technician and retired locally with A.W. Peters.

In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lois Hixson, his daughter, Cynthia L. Hixson, his daughter, Diane Snow, his sister, Marian Driscoll, his grandson, Brandon Snow, and his great-granddaughter, Amelia Diane.

Arthur will be forever remembered by his two daughters, Connie Smith and Debbie Ober, both of Wrentham, MA, his two sons, Russ Hixson and his wife Doreen of Antrim, NH and Rodney Hixson and his wife Cindy, of Hancock, NH, a brother Donald Hixson and his wife Evelyn of Wareham, MA, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Military Honors and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10:00am in Hillside Cemetery in Hancock.
