Barbara R. Gagnon

Barbara R. Gagnon, 86, of Rindge, NH died peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Heywood Hospital in Gardner, MA after a period of failing health.

She was born on March 27, 1931 in Rindge, NH, daughter of the late Walter and Lillian (Burbee) Lafreniere. She was a 1950 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and served honorably in the US Marine Corps for two years after graduation.

Barbara married Maurice Gagnon on July 25, 1953 and began working at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough for 10 years before working at D.D. Bean & Sons in Jaffrey for over 30 years.

She enjoyed playing and competing in all sports. In addition to playing basketball during all four years in high school and after, Barbara also especially enjoyed Volleyball, Softball and bowling, and had won many tournaments in each. She loved being outdoors and took part in numerous activities for fun. Barbara was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of more than 64 years, Maurice ‘Moe’ Gagnon of Rindge; her brother, Joseph Lafreniere of Jaffrey and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 12:00 Noon – 2:00pm, at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey.

A Funeral Liturgy service will immediately follow calling hours at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor of Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in the spring at Saint Patrick Cemetery.
