Beverly T. Schacht, 91, formerly of New Ipswich and Jaffrey NH, had a gentle transition to heaven after a brief illness in Eagle River, Alaska on June 10, 2025.
Beverly was born in Jaffrey, NH on May 24, 1934, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Roy) Bryant. She graduated with the class of 1952 from Conant High School and went on to attend the Bryant and Stratton Commercial School in Boston where she learned bookkeeping.
In 1958, she married George Schacht and together they moved to Turners Falls, MA, where they purchased a Godin's Store and changed the name to Mel-Ans. They owned and operated the store for 20 years before moving back to Jaffrey, where Beverly worked at several of the banks in the area before retiring in 1999.
She always loved candlepin bowling in Peterborough, and while living in Turner Falls, she had enjoyed being a Girl Scout cookie chairperson, as well as serving as the President of the Women's Club there.
Upon moving back to New Hampshire, Beverly became a Communicant of Divine Mercy Parish in Peterborough, where she also belonged to the Women's Guild. She was a friend of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary House of Prayer in New Ipswich, NH, and attended daily mass there.
In Alaska she cheered on her Chugiak Eagle River Chinooks baseball team, played cards, did puzzles and went on many Alaska adventures.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband George, after his tragic accidental drowning in Alaska on June 25, 2001. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Theresa Rodgers of Eagle River, Alaska, and Regina Schacht of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and by many loving nieces and nephews.
Beverly will be remembered in a Memorial Mass at Saint Andrews Church, in Eagle River, Alaska on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm, and a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will also be celebrated in Divine Mercy Church in Peterborough, when the family returns in the fall, and all arrangements will be announced at that time.
Her family thanks Beverly's adopted family at the Chugiak Eagle River Senior Center Assisted Living for the absolutely fabulous care and love they have shown her.
In lieu of flowers, Beverly requested memorial donations be made to the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, 180 Lowell Road, Hudson, NH 03051-4907, or the charity of your choice.
