David R Salo

David R. Salo, 74, of New Ipswich, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife of 54 years by his side following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

David was born in Virginia, Minnesota on December 10, 1946, a son of the late Wilho and Signe (Matta) Salo. He graduated from Appleton Academy in 1964 and honorably served with the United States Army National Guard.

David owned and operated several construction firms in the Monadnock region, such as Monadnock Well and Drilling, S&S Concrete Floors, DR Salo & Sons Masonry and most recently, DRS Homes.

David enjoyed bow hunting, golfing, and any activity that included his grandkids. He loved people and always sought out those who needed a friend. Through his building and masonry expertise, he contributed to every school in New Ipswich, dozens of homes in the area, and countless satisfied customer relationships. He was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church and most recently, Hope Fellowship Church. He cherished spending winters with his friends and relatives in Florida.

In addition to his parents, David was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Courtney Ronzio, and by his siblings, Ethel Appicelli, June Hammond, Fayeth LaFreniere, Stanley Salo, Sanford Salo, James Salo, Floyd Salo, and Brian Salo.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverly (Somero) Salo of New Ipswich, his children; Wanda and Calvin Aho of Vancouver, Washington, Russell Salo and his wife Melissa of New Ipswich, Kenyon Salo and his wife Carmela of Rindge, Avalee Salo of Jaffrey, Reade Salo and his wife Alicia of New Ipswich, Bethany and Michael Sauvola of New Ipswich, Bryce Salo and his wife Kaitlyn of New Ipswich, Kaylee and Jonathon Tirado of Swanzey, and Garrett and Emily Salo of Boston, MA; 16 grandsons, 15 granddaughters, 12 great grandchildren; his siblings, Evelyn Korpi, Elaine Valitalo, Alvin Salo and Robert Salo, all of Florida, Harold Salo of Kenosha, Washington, and Will Salo of Duluth, Minnesota, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Hope Fellowship Church, 16 Prescott Road, Jaffrey, NH 03452. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at Hope Fellowship. At 2:30 PM, a graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Central Cemetery in New Ipswich. All are welcome to attend.
