Dorothy 'Pearl' Record

With her family by her side, Dorothy "Pearl" Record, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Jaffrey Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Jaffrey, NH, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Pearl was born in Peterborough, NH, on July 10, 1939, a daughter of the late Maurice I. and Irene R. (LaFountaine) Norwood. She was proudly raised in Jaffrey and graduated from the former Our Lady of Monadnock Academy. While raising her family, she would later go on to earn her degree in accounting from Franklin Pierce College.

After her first career as a stay-at-home Mom, Pearl took a job with NCR in Peterborough as a purchaser in 1977 and she would remain there until 1993, when NCR moved operations.   Shortly thereafter Pearl was hired as the bookkeeper and purchaser at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Jaffrey until her retirement in 2000. In retirement, Pearl continued to use her accounting skills with part time jobs at Hampsey & Grenier in Jaffrey and then at Stateline Truck Service in Fitzwilliam, NH. Idle was not a word in Pearl's vocabulary. She stayed active and busy in her grandchildren's lives, carting them from event to event in "Grandma's Taxi", and enjoyed traveling to visit relatives. She particularly enjoyed tagging along with her daughter, Stephanie, on her work trips, especially when it meant they were headed to Hawaii!

More than any other trips she took, Pearl cherished the annual camping trip to Bar Harbor, ME. First with her children and her husband, Ronald Sr., and then just the two of them when the kids had grown and moved on. She reminisced about those memories often.

When Pearl was not busy taking care of everyone else, some of her hobbies included cooking, knitting, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. We're not sure if canning and housework are considered hobbies, but Pearl sure treated them like they were! She was a girl scout leader during her daughter's youth and an avid supporter of all things Conant High School. Starting with Ronald Sr.'s teaching career and then through years of her children and grandchildren's athletic teams, as well as their band activities. Black and orange will forever run through her veins!

In addition to both of her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Ronald Record. Her little brother, Ernie Norwood, Sr., and her little sister, Donna Stevens. She was heartbroken in 2007 at the loss of her grandson Stephen Record.

She will be dearly missed by her sons, Glenn Record of Weare, NH, Ronald Record, Jr. of Rindge, NH, her daughter's Stephanie Record of Springfield, VT, and Susan Parr of St. Michael's, MD. She will also be missed by her siblings, Irvin Norwood of Jacksonville, FL, and Patricia Ouellette of Manchester, NH. Also numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and grandchildren have been left with a void.

At Pearl's request, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on May 9, 2024, at 11 AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Pearl's name to The Stephen Record Foundation at SCR21.ORG or PO Box 14, Jaffrey, NH, 03452.
