E. Wesley Enman

E. Wesley Enman, 66, of Antrim, died unexpectedly on January 23, at his home of a heart attack.

Wesley was born in Waltham, MA on April 25, 1956 to John Enman and Jean (Folsom) Enman. Raised in Acton, he fondly remembered exploring the woods, riding dirt bikes, and working at Idylwilde Farms, inspiring a lifelong love of gardening. He graduated from Acton-Boxborough Regional High School and attended the University of Wyoming. Instead of a degree, he returned home with the first of many beloved dogs; it was this dog who helped him woo his future wife, Anne Chisholm. They married on October 3, 1981, and built their home in Antrim.

Wes started his own general contracting business, Wes Enman Builder, which he operated for over 25 years, building and renovating homes across New England. After Anne’s sudden death in 2017, he began working as an estimator at Belletetes in Jaffrey before retiring in April 2022. Wes was a proud supporter of the Antrim Wind Project and considered it one of his most meaningful accomplishments.

Wes often said that his most important job was his family and raising his three children. He was a wonderful and loving father who never missed a single holiday, birthday, or school event, and attended numerous school field trips over the years.

A jack-of-all trades, Wes often surprised people with his ability to cook, bake, sew, fix cars, build furniture, and do mechanical and architectural design. He was quick to volunteer to help other people with their projects.  Never one to be idle, he was always out tinkering in his shop and yard, and had a never-ending to-do list. He had what was affectionately called “the gift of gab” and considered being verbose a professional skill and not merely a hobby.  He loved to spend time outdoors walking, kayaking, swimming, and skiing. He had many hobbies including reading, beekeeping, and most importantly spending time with his family, friends and his adored pets.

Wes is survived by his three children, Graham and his wife Shanna of Maynard, MA, Derek and his significant other, Maria of Antrim, and Rebecca of South Portland, ME; his loving partner Jan Goolbis with whom he was excited to spend his retirement years; his siblings, Blair Enman and his wife Claudette of Rutland, VT, and Carol Enman of Cumberland, ME; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and in-laws.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 35 years, Anne, in January 2017; his parents in 2008 and 2019; and his sister-in-law, Kathy Chisholm, in 2019.

Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate his life together on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 2pm to 4pm at the James A. Tuttle Library, 45 Main St., Antrim, NH 03440.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Wes’s name to Monadnock Kitty Rescue & Adoption, PO Box 468, Jaffrey, NH 03452. Or to the Antrim Ambulance, PO Box 517, Antrim NH 03440.
