Elaine M Walsh

July 29, 1929 — September 20, 2022

Elaine Walsh, 93, passed in the predawn hours of September 20, 2022, at her home in Fort Lauderdale, FL, due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s.  Born Elaine Marie Ashworth on July 29, 1929, in Fall River, Massachusetts to Robert and Ellen (O'Heir) Ashworth.  She was the oldest of four siblings. Raised in Tiverton, Rhode Island, she spent summers with her family on the water and at a summer camp in NH where she taught swimming. It was in Rindge, NH that she met her future husband, John T. "Jack" Walsh. They married on May 14, 1960 and celebrated their 53rd anniversary a few months before he passed in August 2013.

Elaine was born with a strong will, independent spirit, and commanding laugh, all of which were enhanced by a solid education that culminated in a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Washington, DC.  She was a lifelong observant Catholic who quietly but firmly demonstrated her faith through a steady commitment to community service. She served in a wide range of capacities at various organizations including the League of Women Voters, South Shore Elder Services and Meals and Wheels, among others.  She loved traveling and reading, spending summers and many winter weekends at her lake home in Rindge, NH with her family and many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother Robert Ashworth of Greenville, SC. She leaves behind her children, Sean (Gayle) Walsh of Marshfield, MA.; Mike (Kathleen) Walsh of Stony Point, NY; Barbara (John) Morgan of Waterford, CT. and Bill Walsh of Norwell, MA. She leaves behind grandchildren Shannon Walsh-Wooters (Kevin), Kristen, Matthew, Kate, John and Charlie, sisters Eleanor Sasso of Warwick, RI, Barbara (Bill) Johnson of West Hartford, CT, her sisters-in-law Nancy Walsh of Dorchester, MA and Joan Ashworth of Greenville, SC, as well as many nieces and nephews.  The family would like to give special thanks to Evette White for her family-like care of Elaine for the past four plus years.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH between the hours of 5:00-7:00PM.
