Eunice V. Nelson, 91, formerly of Jaffrey, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, Mass after a period of failing health. Mrs. Nelson was born in Cambridge, Mass on May 10, 1920, the daughter of Albert E. and Etta (Merriam) Cole. She was a 1939 graduate of Revere High School in Revere, Mass and had attended Burdett College in Boston. She was superintendent of the pre-school children and the junior choir director in the churches pastored by her husband, Rev. Roy E. Nelson, over the 42 year period of his ministry. She retired in 1981 with her husband to Jaffrey, New Hampshire, where they became very active in several of the churches in the Monadnock Region. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roy E. Nelson on October 14, 1995. She is survived by her two daughters, Carol A. Thurston of Greenfield, Mass and Sherry L. Hastings of Kents Hill, Maine; four grandchildren, Debbie Adams and her husband David of Maine, Michael Hastings and his wife Karen of Maine, Edwin ‘Chip’ Thurston and his wife Christine of Greenfield, Mass, and Julie McKown and her husband Scott of New York; five great-grandchildren, Michael and Murial Adams of Maine, Gabriel and Evan Hastings of Maine and Paige McKown of New York; her sister, Harriet Perry of Harvard, Mass and several nieces, nephews cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance Service, PO Box 107, Jaffrey, NH 03452-0107.

Burial will be in Conant Cemetery in Jaffrey at the convenience of the family.

At Mrs. Nelsons request, there will be no visiting hours or formal services at this time.
