Everil ‘Toffee’ Motuzas, 95, formerly of Jaffrey, NH and most recently of Chicopee, MA, died peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2025, at the Holyoke, MA Medical Center after a period of failing health.
She was born in Pelham, Massachusetts on December 18, 1929, a daughter of the late George and Rose (Richards) Burrows. Toffee attended schools in Pelham and Ludlow, and she enjoyed an active life, eventually marrying Joseph F. Motuzas. Together, they lived in Jaffrey where Toffee had worked as a Quality Assurance Technician at Millipore-Sigma until she retired in 1992.
Toffee belonged to and enjoyed volunteering at both the John Humiston American Legion Auxiliary and the Jaffrey VFW Memorial Auxiliary, for many years. She also enjoyed attending antique car shows wherever she was living.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe on October 28, 1995. Her children, Wayne, Robin, Laurie, and Carol, and her grandchildren, Billy, Timothy, and Marc, also died earlier
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Sawicki, Greg Stone, and Heidi Strack, her grandchildren, Laura Strack and Aaron Strack, and her great-grandson, Royal Strack. She also leaves behind her beloved step-family, including Robert Motuzas, his children and grandchildren, and many close friends.
A visiting hour will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH.
A graveside service will take place at 1:00 PM at the family lot in Hillside Cemetery on Goddard Road in Rindge, NH 03461.
