Frederick H. Muncil

Frederick H. Muncil, 81, of Marlborough, NH died peacefully after a battle with cancer on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his home while surrounded by his family.

Fred was born on April 9, 1936 in Brighton, NY, son of the late Morton and Estella (Martin) Muncil. He had attended the former Peterborough High School before serving honorably in the United Stated Air Force. Later, he attended the Chicago School of Watchmaking.

Fred had lived in many of the towns in the Monadnock Region while working at W.W. Cross in Jaffrey. While working as a tool grinder, he also served in many of the officer positions and finally as the president of the local union at the ‘tack shop’. He had also been a key member of the negotiating committee for many years and retired in 2002 after more than 40 years. Following retirement, Mr. Muncil enjoyed getting back to watchmaking, fishing and watching the great old classic western movies.

Mr. Muncil is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy (Fitch) Muncil of Marlborough; his 4 daughters, Catherine Lambert and her husband Thomas of Jaffrey, Marilyn Muncil of Marlborough, Patricia Cormier and her husband Danny of Rindge, and Pamela Muncil and her fiancé Robert French of Rindge; his brother, Morton Muncil of Marlborough; his sisters, Dorothy Lorette of Saranac Lake, NY, Joanne Leclair of Jaffrey and Marie Lynch of Lake Wales, Florida; his 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be missed by all.

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours which will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Cournoyer Funeral Home at 33 River Street in Jaffrey. A memorial service will immediately follow calling hours at 6:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Evergreen Cemetery in Bennington.
