Gerald ‘Jerry’ Charlonne, 84, of Jaffrey, NH died peacefully while surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 7, 2017 after a period of failing health.
Jerry was born on July 21, 1933 in Gardner, MA, son of the late Homer and Pauline (Cote) Charlonne. He was raised and educated in Jaffrey and had been a logger working for himself and at Smith-Harriman in Antrim before working for the Town of Jaffrey at the ‘dump’ which later became known as the transfer and recycling center. He retired in 1998.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman. While he enjoyed fishing year round, his life revolved around hunting.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Rivers, his brother, Edward Charlonne, and his sisters, Sheila Charlonne, Joan Fontaine, Patricia Dyer and Colleen Hardy.
Jerry is survived by his 2 daughters, Nancy Rivers and her husband Robert of Rindge, NH, and Lisa Miller and her husband Ray of Jaffrey; his grandchildren, Robert Rivers, Jr. and his wife Devynn of Athol, MA, Kimberly Rivers of Gardner, MA, Jennifer Miller and her fiancé Matthew Paquette of Ashuelot, NH and Benjamin Miller and Timothy Miller, both of Jaffrey; his great-grandchildren, Alliance Rivers of Rindge, and Mira Geelan of Gardner, MA; his 2 brothers, Vernon Charlonne of Jaffrey and Francis ‘Bobby’ Charlonne of Winchendon, MA; his sisters, Janice Hurd of Gardner, MA, Mary Lewis, Carolyn Haselton, and Marcia Charlonne, all of Brattleboro, VT; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH.
Funeral Services will take place immediately following calling hours at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor of Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey will officiate. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery in Jaffrey.
