H. Alan
Edelkind
April 10, 1946 – May 6, 2026
H. Alan Edelkind, 80, of Dublin, NH, died peacefully surrounded by those he truly loved on May 6, 2026. He loved and held closely those he cared about, especially his wife of 56 years, Judy Edelkind. If you were lucky enough to really know Alan, you’d know his family: wife Judy, pup Raven, daughter Corey, son-in-law Travis and grandkids Quinn and Kendra, were his world. While he was always keeping busy, whether with “real” work or his amazing woodworking skills, there was always time in his day to take Raven for a field run or road walk.
Alan had many talents, whether it was in his epic style of direct communication or leading large insurance companies to success, if your paths ever crossed you surely have stories to share. Alan started as an IT program manager, working his way up to V.P. of I.S.S. under the NGM/Main Street America group. He travelled a lot for work and made many connections along the way, eventually venturing out and starting his own insurance consulting business Spiral Management. Once out on his own he worked in Syracuse, NY and most recently New Orleans, LA. He met some of his closest friends through his work and community involvement. Roy was one of Alan’s closest friends, staying in touch for the last 50+ years. He never truly retired, but changed professions. He left the insurance industry and went on to spend his time with his newfound passion of helping to direct the local school board, SAU #1. His passion and energy was like no other and no matter if he agreed or disagreed, he would have a respectful and calming manor in his “discussions”. While so much of his life was dedicated to serving others in work and providing for his loved ones, his favorite place to be was in his wood shop, beside his grandchildren on the beach or riding his 4-wheeler with his dog.
While Alan would always tell you NH was his home, any true New Yorker would tell you when they heard him talk, you could tell that accent anywhere, even 50 years later. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the 3rd oldest in a family with 10 siblings. His talents growing up included sharing IDs with his older brothers, making all the girls’ heads turn when he dove in the pool to race swimming, and setting off homemade bottle rockets. His family moved to the Catskills of upstate NY where he graduated from Fallsburg High School in 1964. He went on to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield in NY, working on programming insurance systems and attending trade school through work. Mutual friends introduced Alan and Judy on a blind date in 1966.
Alan and Judy moved to NH from NJ in 1972 changing locations to follow his work. They finally settled in Dublin in 1976 and built their house they have continued to live in since 1980. Alan’s daughter Corey was born in 1981, while work took him from home for long days, she was one of his biggest prides and joys. His calling to the school board was first and foremost to support his daughter and grandchildren. There was never a day that went by that he didn’t call, check-in, text or tell his daughter how much he loved her and her family. If you knew Alan in any fashion you knew some stories about his family and his deep love and adoration for them.
In addition to Alan’s immediate family, he is survived by his brothers, Steve and Shane; and his sisters, Rena, Tamar, and Amy. He was also survived by his brother Myron, who died on Monday morning, May 11, 2026. Additionally he was predeceased by his brothers Daniel, Michael and Joseph (Jamie), sister Michele, his parents Murray and Mary and his pups Maui, Casey, Noah and Riley. He has many loving nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Following Alan’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date at the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, NH 03461
In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial donations in Alan’s name to PAWS New England Dog Rescue, PO Box 542, Ashland, MA 01721, or to an animal rescue that’s near and dear to you.
