Herta Mazza, 93, of Temple, NH passed away on February 16, 2023, at the Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born on October 4, 1929, to the late Franz and Amalia (Porkorney) Schloemmer in Hallstatt, Austria.

She and Walter Mazza met while she was working at a hotel in Salzburg while he was a soldier on leave from Munich. They were married on December 18, 1953, at Mirabell Palace.

The town of Temple welcomed Herta with a party at the Town Hall for the newlyweds. After a short stay with Walter’s mother, Hattie Thorning (Hayward) Mazza, they purchased the house next door first owned by Walter’s grandfather Walter E. Hayward.

Herta became a Title One teacher’s aide, she then became a nurse’s aide with the visiting nurses.  In her later years she enjoyed Temple’s Souper Luncheons, and meetings of Four Score and More.

She was predeceased by her husband Walter C. Mazza and her son Walter F. and his wife Deborah. She is survived by daughters Heidy Jordan and her husband Paul, Holly Martin and her husband Mark, and her son Chet Mazza, grandchildren Christopher Jordan, Luke Jordan and his wife Evelyn, Glenn Martin, his wife Jessica, their daughter Aubrey, Andrew Martin, and step-grandchildren Lizzie, Jackie, and Rory McFarlane.

She will be buried at the Miller Cemetery in Temple, NH, at 11:00AM on May 16, 2023. Family and friends are welcome.
