With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James “Jim” Covell, a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, who passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 63.

Known affectionately by many as Jim, Jimbo, and Ji-Cal Jim, Jim was born on October 10, 1962, and spent his early years growing up in Littleton, Massachusetts. He later moved with his family to New Ipswich, New Hampshire, where he grew up alongside his six siblings: Rachel Covell, Carrie Ayala, Peter Covell, Marcie Myers, Bonnie Covell, and Julie Sohn.

Jim graduated from Mascenic High School in 1981. Coming from a family of educators and teachers, he understood the value of hard work, dedication, and education. He often said, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” He earned an associate degree in Business/Telecommunications from NHTI, as well as his Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer’s License.

Jim was extremely dedicated and hardworking, with a natural ability to lead. He had a passion for masonry, spending five years with Kaarto Masonry before beginning his more than 30 year career with Ji-Cal Masonry. He took immense pride in his work and rarely, if ever, took a day off. Jim believed in doing things the right way and giving everything he had to whatever was in front of him. His work was a reflection of who he was: dependable, determined, and proud of what he could accomplish with his own two hands.

Beyond his career, Jim was a man of great faith, a big heart, and a genuine appreciation for life’s simple joys. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready to play a prank, make someone laugh, or enjoy a good meal. Affectionately known as “MacGyver,” there was very little Jim couldn’t fix. If something was broken, he would find a way to make it work. More importantly, he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed him. Jim taught those around him, not through words alone but through his actions, what it meant to work hard, be dependable, and show up for the people you love.

Jim’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Maureen (Pucko), and together they shared 27 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. He was a loving and proud father to his daughter, Julia, and some of his happiest moments were simply those spent together as a family. Jim was also a true animal lover and had a special place in his heart for the animals in his life.

Jim and Maureen looked forward to their yearly trips to Florida with Julia, creating memories that will be treasured forever. He also loved spending time on Lake Winnipesaukee, especially boating with his childhood best friend, Sean Hubley. He adored his niece and nephew, Brianna Baron and Adam Pillsbury, and took great joy in watching them grow. He was especially proud of his great-nephew, Mason Baron, and cherished being a part of his life. Jim also considered Calvin Seppala and his close colleagues from Ji-Cal Masonry to be part of his family.

For those who knew Jim, his absence will be felt in all the little moments: the project that needs fixing, the joke that would have made him laugh, the family gathering where his presence was always expected, and the memories of time spent together. While he may no longer be here to lend a hand, tell a story, play a prank, or sit beside the people he loved, the love, laughter, and countless memories he gave to those around him will remain forever.

Jim will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Sacred Heart Church, 19 High Street, Greenville, NH.
