Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joan DeGrandpre, 83, passed away at her home on Saturday, February 21st, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Rindge, New Hampshire on August 30, 1942, the daughter of the late Russell and Dorothy (Coffin) Raymond. Joan graduated from Conant High School with the Class of 1960. She enjoyed a lengthy career in banking and later worked for Monadnock Lifetime Products in Fitzwilliam. She also worked in the Jaffrey-Rindge School system as a substitute teacher and para-professional, a job she truly enjoyed.
Joan loved the town of Rindge, where she spent her childhood, raised her children, grandchildren and enjoyed visiting her many friends. She loved spending time outdoors gardening, walking in the fresh air and picking blueberries.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Dorothy, her childhood sweetheart and husband William E. O’Neil Sr., her sister Judy, her second husband, Felix DeGrandpre, and by her stepdaughter Cindy Ciani-Morton.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa O. Galante, and by her son, William E. O’Neil, Jr. and his wife, Robin; her stepchildren, John and Wendi DeGrandpre, Roy and Michelle DeGrandpre, and Betsy Brochu; her beautiful grandchildren: Zach Galante, Josh Galante, Will Galante, Finian O’Neil, Paige Wojucukiewizc, Dana Kinne, Alyssa Crook, Brandon DeGrandpre, Kelsea Doucakis, Jordan DeGrandpre, Katey Brochu, Katiana and Raef and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Raymond, her brother, Alan Raymond, and his wife, Gale, and by her brother-in-law and friend, Marc Tieger.
Friends and family are invited to attend Joan’s graveside service on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:30 PM, at Hillside Cemetery on Goddard Road, in Rindge, NH 03461. A reception will follow at the Rindge Congregational Church, located at 6 Payson Hill Rd, Rindge, NH 03461.
