John David Heikkinen, 58, of Amherst, NH, referred to as “Heik” by his friends, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 8, 2023, in Nantucket, MA from complications following open heart surgery.
He was born on September 7, 1965, in Leominster, MA and was raised in Rindge, NH. John was a graduate of Conant High School in 1983. A young entrepreneur, John built his concrete business from a young age, now known as Action Floors. He was very well-versed at his trade, a hard worker and loved it! It would never get old for him, the excitement of loading up the trucks for a new job with the guys and what may lie ahead.
He loved his family and playing basketball or riding dirt bikes in the yard with the kids. He enjoyed having Akitas, snowmobiling, his sports cars, watching the Red Sox, the Patriots or FOX news and playing sports himself. John would always make time to chat, had a big heart and would give to anyone with a need, down to his own shirt off his back. There was never a dull moment with John, and he could always make you laugh. He was a strong man, cared deeply for others and will be missed very much.
John is predeceased by his parents, David and Siri Heikkinen of Rindge.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Andrea Heikkinen, and their children, Jordan and Jacqulen Heikkinen of Amherst, NH, his daughters, Ashlyn Kundert of Rindge, Kayla Heikkinen of Wallkill, NY, Sierra and Savanna Brosque of Greenville, his five grandsons, and a granddaughter, his sister, Liisa (Heikkinen) MacLeod and brother-in-law, John MacLeod of Westfield, MA, and his nieces, MacKenzie Blascak, Emma MacLeod and great-niece, Elsie Blascak.
In accordance with John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40:31
