Leslie Whone passed away suddenly on August 9th, 2022 at her home in Dublin.
She was the daughter of Dorothy Slagen and Lester Whone. The family lived in various parts of the U.S. She graduated from Brien McMahon in 1975 and again graduated from BU Dental School with a DMD in 1980.
She married David Belknap in 1980. She lived in South Boston and summered in their home in Dublin. She worked in various facilities as a DMD. She served as Dublin's Health Officer and was active on the Dublin Recycling Committee. She divorced in 2001 but remained close friends. She loved her home on the pond in Dublin and gardening, bridge, traveling and visiting a wonderful circle of friends. She also leaves some faithful friends on the pond and in the vicinity who are so grateful to have had her in their lives.
She leaves her sister of CT, Elaine Whone Kovacs and a brother Robert Whone of FLA. She leaves so many friends who loved her, as well as her siblings and her niece Rachel Dickenson and her nephew, Chris Dickenson.
There are no services but this poem which was written by Joyce Grendal relays what Leslie would have wanted to share with all those she loved and whose lives she touched deeply.
If I should go before the rest of you, break not a flower nor inscribe a stone. Nor, when I'm gone, speak in a Sunday voice, but be the usual selves that I have known. Weep if you must, Parting is hell, But life goes on, So sing as well.
