Margaret A. ‘Peggy’ Collum, 80, of Rindge, NH died peacefully on October 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She called Rindge home after more than 45 years with her loving family. Born on April 25, 1945 in Natick, MA, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Bliss) Devitt. Peggy was a 1964 graduate from Framingham South High School, in Framingham, MA.
She began her career at NCR in Peterborough, NH before joining Franklin Pierce University where she worked in Residential Life for many years until her retirement in 2018.
Peggy had many hobbies that included gardening, reading, playing cards, sewing and kayaking. She especially loved making cakes, oatmeal raisin cookies and sugar cookies for all of her family. She never missed a chance dancing to the Electric Slide or Cupid Shuffle. The ocean was her happy place and she walked countless miles along the beach in Hampton (NH) and Aruba. She loved to travel the globe with family. She was an avid New England Patriots fan, watching every game in her Patriots attire and celebrating each touch down by ringing her cow bell enthusiastically in celebration. In recent years, she was especially fond of her many traveling adventures with the “Sisters on the Fly'" camping group.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 49 years, David on May 15, 2015; her brother Thomas B. Devitt and sisters Elizabeth J. Locke and Kathleen V. Tascione.
She is survived by her son, David J. Collum III and his wife Sue of Murfreesboro, TN and her three daughters, Susan and her husband Paul Antonellis of Exeter, NH; Michelle and her husband David Croumie of Jaffrey, NH; and Patricia and husband Michael Burt of Rindge, NH with whom she was living. Peggy was also blessed by her beloved 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; brother William B. Devitt of Holliston MA, sister Mary C. Pearce of Concord NH and brother John Devitt & wife Kimber of Colorado, in addition to her many nieces and nephews.
Peggy will be dearly missed by all those who knew her for her kindness, selflessness and caring nature to everyone she knew. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana and friend and her family was the center of her world.
