Margaret E. Payne

Margaret E. Payne, 87, of Nashua, died peacefully Wednesday January 9, 2013 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, following a brief illness. She was born March 13, 1925 in Bloomfield, Kansas daughter of the late Grant and Helen (Walker) Mc Elwain. She grew up in Beloit, Kansas and was a graduate of the local high school. Mrs. Payne has been a resident of Nashua since 1961 and had previously lived in Los Gatos, CA. She retired in 1998 as the librarian at Rivier College. Before that she worked at Centronics in Hudson where she implemented a Quality Circle Program for the company, which was cutting edge technology for its time. Mrs. Payne also was a Sunday school teacher at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Nashua. She was a devoted gardener and was incredibly skilled with her hands when it came to sewing, needlepoint and making braided rugs. Her husband of twenty-one years, Robert J. Payne, died in January 1977. She is survived by her three sons Douglas Payne and his wife Patricia of Hancock, NH , William Fisher and Robert Fisher both of California; a daughter Barbara Fisher also of California; seven grandchildren Troy, Shawn, Timothy, Lorie, James, Kevin, Hannah; and several great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret Payne may be made to St. Joseph Hospital, in care of Resource Development, 172 Kinsley Street, PO Box 2013, Nashua NH 03061-2013, or to Home Health Hospice Care, Community Hospice House, Attn: Development, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.

As per her request, there will be no calling hours.

Private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family.
