Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting earlier in her life.  She devoted many hours volunteering at the food pantry, the suicide prevention hotline, and at the Dublin Town Library, although her greatest passion was being a loving and supporting mother and grandmother to her growing family.

In addition to her parents, Mary was also predeceased by her brother, John P. Donahue, and by her daughter-in-law, Kara Merrell.

Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edward Merrell of Jaffrey, NH, her sons, Christian Merrell (Lisa) of Virgina Beach, VA, and Geoffrey Merrell of Anchorage, AK, and by her daughters, Denise Fine (Gary) of Pembroke, MA, and Suzanne Newton (Karl) of Saratoga Springs, NY.  She also had the distinction of being the grandmother of Jesse and Addison (Julie) Fine, Eric and Kyle Newton, and Olivia and Luc Merrell.
