Mathew “Mat” Lambert, of Rindge, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving sons after a 3-year battle with melanoma.
Mat was born on November 2, 1975, in Peterborough, NH to Dennis and Peggy (O’Neil) Lambert. He grew up in Jaffrey and graduated from Conant High School in 1994. Later earning a criminal justice degree from Mount Wachusett Community College.
Mat was a man of many skills and interests. At a youthful age, he learned to be a hard worker and a skilled outdoorsman thanks to his father Dennis. Hunting and fishing were deeply rooted within his nature, and he made sure to pass that valuable skillset and experience down to his boys. His mother, Peggy, taught him to be a selfless, loving family man. Mat played baseball all the way through high school, always being known as a “big bat.” He loved to play guitar in his band during his younger years, and going to see his favorite bands in concert with his best friend. Soon after graduation Mathew and the mother of his children, Kelly, had three boys. Mat’s sense of humor was remarkable. He could turn any bad day around with one catch phrase and make friends with anyone who crossed his path. He had a way of creating his own funny words and descriptions that were uniquely hilarious, like naming the family cat Pookie. Mat was blessed with an amazing family. Charmaine, his younger sister, was always a lot to handle for him growing up, which taught him patience. It was well worth it as she always had his back, more than anyone else in the world. He fell in love with his princess, Lisa, a wild and beautiful woman from the city of Boston. She would become a country girl and motherly figure to his sons soon enough. Mat spent most of his days hard at work providing for his family, but he never let that get in the way of his relationships. He found a way to spend time with his boys and give them an amazing childhood. Whether it was playing pass in the yard or a night watching the Patriots win another Superbowl. Mat made every decision with the future of his boys in mind, even named his business HNL Contracting after them. He was an amazing cook, and he would stop at nothing to perfect every recipe, always looking for critiques. When the holidays rolled around, that was his favorite time of year. Mat had a passion for Christmas that ran deep, hosting every Christmas dinner and getting the largest Christmas tree that New Hampshire had to offer. Family was always first for Mat, as he never left a weekend without plans of either a cookout or an event with loved ones.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law Bill Mulholland.
Mat is survived by his wife Lisa (Mulholland) Lambert of Rindge, NH, his sons Haven Lambert of Stratham, NH, Noah Lambert of Antrim, NH, and Liam Lambert of Antrim, NH, his parents Dennis and Peggy Lambert of Jaffrey, NH, his sister and brother-in-law Charmaine and Matthew Peard of Rindge, NH, his nieces Maicee Peard and Presleigh Peard of Rindge, NH, mother-in-law, Toni Mulholland, brother-in-law Billy Mulholland, and sister-in-law Amy Mulholland, the mother of his children, Kelly McDonald of Antrim, NH, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
