Paul Joseph Hyatt, of Jaffrey, NH, passed into the next world on September 17, 2026 after a life of adventures, love, practical jokes, missteps, motorcycles and fast cars. Paul was born on November 26, 1951, in Woburn, MA and grew up in Malden, MA and Mason, NH before settling down in the shadow of Mt. Monadnock in Jaffrey. For the past 25 years, Paul shared his life alongside his partner Carol Chalke. He was father to Wendy Hyatt of Coventry, RI, Corey Desmarais of Jaffrey, NH, Lisa Hyatt (and his #1 son in law Chance Margheim) of Acworth, NH. Paul was a steadfast brother to his sisters Maggie Babb and husband Chuck of Peterborough, NH and Kathleen June of Pepperell, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Laura, along with siblings John, Joan, Pat, Ruth, Carol, Buddy, Donny, Richard, Billy, and Bobby who are undoubtedly waiting to hug him now on the other side. Paul also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Paul will be remembered for his quick wit and clever one liners that were always love simply disguised in humor. He loved a good practical joke (even at his own expense) and was always impressed with anyone that could pull one over on him.

In the 1970’s Paul traveled around the country hitchhiking alongside his best pal Dave Morrison meeting friends along the way, some of whom he would have for life. Years later, Paul loved telling the story about having a warrant out for his arrest in the state of Colorado for hitchhiking. When asked about whether or not he was ever on a wanted poster he proudly replied “Yeah, probably!”

While living in Mason, NH, Paul got into all sorts of good trouble alongside his band of merry men that included Dave Morrison, Kenny Rafter, Randy Crosby, Randy Rose, Barry Graham, Dick Laurencelle, and the legendary Bronson Potter. Their shenanigans were many and the stories they told around the campfires years later were mostly true (depending on who you asked).

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00 m at Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH. He will be laid to rest privately in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Ipswich.

His celebration of life will be held at the John Humiston American Legion Post #11, 20 Webster Street, Jaffrey, on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 11:00am to 2:00pm, please come share your best stories of Paul.
