Peter G. Leach, 77, of Jaffrey, New Hampshire, died peacefully on January 11, 2024, with family by his side at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a period of failing health.

Peter was born in Peterborough, NH February 21, 1946, son of the late Paul and Lucy (Pomponio) Leach.  He was a graduate of Conant High School where he was a star baseball player; even being scouted for the minor leagues. He then went on to earn his degree in Political Science from Clark University in Worcester, MA.

Peter served honorably in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam war.  When he returned home he began working at D.D. Bean & Sons, where he eventually retired as Vice President of marketing for the corporation.

During his career, alongside friend and business partner, Mark Bean, they opened a D.D. Bean branch in Southern California where he spent 15 years living and enjoying the unbeatable weather and all the many golf courses.

Peter loved sports of all kinds but true to his own grit, his favorite was tennis. He loved to play and watch and follow the sport which brought him much excitement and joy. A passion he shared with both his daughter Kristin and sister-in-law, Susan. He was a lover of animals and true to his own both independent and curious nature, he really loved cats.

Peter is survived by his wife of 30 years, Diana (Gundry) of Jaffrey, NH; his son Greg and daughter-in-law Michelle (Webster) and their two children, Sydney and Madison of Franklin, MA; his daughter, Kristin Marie Leach of Newbury Park, CA ; step-son, Chris McAtee of Keene, NH; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Susan Leach of Estero, FL; brother and sister-in-law, James and Sandra Leach of San Francisco, CA; nieces Samantha Leach Deschenes, Cassandra Leach; Amy Leach Harris; Anastacia Maggioncalda; and several cousins and kin.

At Peter’s request, there will be no calling hours or formal services at this time.

A Springtime Graveside Service will be held after warmer weather arrives and will be announced here on www.cournoyerfh.com
