Phyllis A. Groezinger, 96, of Keene, NH, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Covenant Living of Keene, surrounded by the love of her family.
Phyllis was born May 13, 1929, in Valley Stream, New York, to the late LaRoy and Edna (Ford) Roome. She attended Valley Stream Central High School, where she played sports and formed special friendships, which she maintained and cherished through the years. She went on to attend Berkeley Secretarial School. Phyl used her secretarial skills in many jobs through the years, especially working for Long Island Lighting Company, on Long Island.
Phyllis met the love of her life, Harry Groezinger, also from Valley Stream, and married June 17, 1950. They moved to Huntington, Long Island, and built their first home, that they proceeded to fill with a lot of love and many memories with their five children. In 1985, Phyl and Harry retired to Jaffrey, NH, where they spent their time restoring an old farm house. Phyllis spent much of her time working in her gardens as well as pursuing her love of quilting.
Phyllis had a deep Christian faith, which formed her family’s lives. She was active in the Congregational churches in Jaffrey and Rindge, and in her earlier years Old First Presbyterian Church in Huntington, Long Island.
Anyone who knew Phyllis, loved her dearly. Family was her greatest love, and she was loved by all. Many memories were made and cherished by four generations.
Phyllis is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Harry Groezinger, her brother Herbert F. Roome, and her son, Scott Groezinger.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Wendy (Richard) Daley of West Rutland, VT, Laurie Goldsmith of Sullivan, NH, Sally (Roger) Turcotte of Boise, ID, and Holly Lindegren, of Concord, NH. She was the devoted and proud Grammy to 12 grandchildren, and Gigi to 20 great grandchildren.
