Phyllis (Pfaffmann) McKoon, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly on March 26, 2026, at the age of 80. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Phyllis’ life was a testament to care, compassion, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Phyllis was a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Worcester City School of Nursing in 1970. Her career spanned several decades, during which she worked primarily in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at Worcester City Hospital, Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg, and Heywood Hospital in Gardner. She was not only a skilled nurse but also a CPR and ACLS Instructor. Phyllis was highly respected among her peers for her unwavering dedication and the compassion she extended to all of her patients.

Beyond her professional life, Phyllis was an avid gardener and animal lover who found solace in the peace and serenity of her home in Rindge, NH, where nature and wildlife gravitated to her.

Each holiday was an opportunity for Phyllis to gather her loved ones, creating cherished memories with grand dinners and festive decorations.

Phyllis's faith played a significant role in her life. She was once an active member and of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester, MA, and later as an active member of the Advent Lutheran Church in Rindge, NH.

Family was the cornerstone of Phyllis's life. She was a passionate protector of her children and grandchildren. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Nicole McKoon-Bergevin, and her husband Roger, of Berlin, MA; her son, Kevin McKoon of Savannah, GA; her Grandson Joshua Bergevin and his partner Stacey Reynolds, their daughter Freyja and another great-granddaughter due in August of Clinton, MA; a brother, William Menanson and his son Kirk Menanson of Shrewsbury, MA; her friend and ex-husband, Carl R. McKoon.

A service to celebrate Phyllis's life will be held on April 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Cournoyer Funeral Home, located at 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Phyllis's memory to The Monadnock Conservancy Land Trust, an organization that resonates with her love for nature and conservation. Donations can be made online at Monadnockconservancy.org.

Phyllis McKoon will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
