Priscilla C. Bourgoine

November 5, 1924 — January 14, 2022

It is with deep sadness that the family of Priscilla Ruth Connell Bourgoine announces her passing on January 14, 2022.

Priscilla was born on November 5, 1924, in Gardner, MA. She was the youngest child of Edna (Robichaud) and William Thomas Connell, Sr.. Priscilla grew up in West Peterborough and was a 1942 graduate of Peterborough High School where she was a good student and played on the field hockey team.

Priscilla married Leo “Mike” Bourgoine, also of West Peterborough on November 30, 1946. Together, they raised their five children in West Peterborough. Both Priscilla and Mike lovingly cared for their West Peterborough home and community. Small in stature, Priscilla was known as Peanut by her family. A quiet and reserved woman, the name she was given and known by her co-workers was “Mother”. Her true love was caring for and dedicating herself to her family. Her family was the center of her universe and she always proclaimed that “family is everything”.

Mike and Priscilla spent many happy years fishing and camping—first in their Winnebago and then became seasonal residents at Rand Pond in Goshen, NH in their pull behind travel trailer. Following Mike’s death in 1989, Priscilla spent her winters in Holly Hill, FL with her sister Madeleine. After losing their sister, Priscilla, Rita and Bill made Ormond Beach their winter destination. Priscilla was proud of her Irish heritage and traveled with her family to Ireland, Bermuda, the Grand Canyon and Sedona, and had also taken numerous other trips with her family throughout New England.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Buyer in the Purchasing Department at NHBB. She was a dedicated Boston Celtics fan and rarely missed a game on TV. Priscilla was also known as the lady who walked for miles each day, well into her 90’s. She would put on her Celtics hat and off she would go. She was also a beautiful knitter and made numerous sweaters for family members.

Priscilla was a communicant at Divine Mercy Parish, formerly St. Peter’s Church in Peterborough.

Family members include her son, Peter (Bonnie Weston) of Liverpool, NY; her daughters, Patricia (Gregg) Alexander of Peterborough, and Diane (David) Doran of Wilton, and her son Philip of Peterborough. She leaves 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a cousin, Joseph Henry Dora of Marietta, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Priscilla was pre-deceased by her husband, Leo, her oldest son, Michael, her daughter-in-law, Anna (Symonowicz Bourgoine Devlin), her grandchildren, Leo “Joey” and Jason, and her siblings.

Out of respect for the current conditions with Covid, Priscilla’s services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Peterborough Food Pantry ℅ Peterborough Human Services Fund, One Grove Street, Peterborough, NH 03458 or the Peterborough Sunshine Fund, PO Box 421, Peterborough, NH 03458.
