Ronald 'Ronnie' Boutwell

July 18, 1936 — February 3, 2021

On February 3, 2021, Ronald J. “Ronnie” Boutwell, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving and caring family at the age of 84.

Ronnie was born on July 18, 1936 in Peterborough, NH and graduated from Conant High School in 1954. After graduation he enlisted and served in the US Air Force until 1958. During his last year he was stationed in Germany where his unit developed, and test fired the Martin Matador missile which was one of the very first guided missiles made.

Ronnie married Jean DeGrandpre in 1959. They welcomed their first daughter Jodie Sue in 1969, Maureen Ann was born in 1973 and, twins Brian and Nancy joined the family in 1974. Early on, Ronnie had worked briefly at Jaffrey Fire Protection, where alongside many good friends, he helped engineer and build Jaffrey’s first large diameter hose reel truck. Afterwards, He and Jean opened Ronnie’s Small Engine Repair. Together, they built the small engine repair shop into a successful business when in 2004, Ronnie retired and Brian officially took over the business. Ronnie had volunteered on the Jaffrey Fire Department for over 20 years and retired in 1990. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the family cabin in Colebrook, splitting wood, working on his Pontiacs and touring his land on his four-wheeler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Levida (Pelletier) Boutwell and by his sister, Joanne (Boutwell) Saville.

Ronnie is survived by his wife Jean; his children, Jodie (Boutwell) Wamboldt of Florida, Maureen Boutwell, Brian Boutwell and Nancy (Boutwell) Collins, all of Jaffrey; was ‘Pop Pop’ to his grandchildren, Nona and Keanu LaGrenade, Emily and Justin Wamboldt, Madison Gleason and Brianna, Corey, Abbigail and Delainey Collins, and his great-granddaughter, Devin Krystal Monahan. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Boutwell of Jaffrey, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Per Ronnie’s wishes, no memorial service or funeral is planned.
