Smally James ‘Jim’ Stockdale, 67, of Troy, NH, passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Jim was born on April 6, 1958, in Connellsville, PA, son of the late Edgar Theodore Stockdale Sr. and Marie (Smitley) Stockdale.
Jim had moved to Jaffrey when he was five and attended the school system. Jim dedicated much of his professional life as a Maintenance Supervisor at the Troy Mills, where his commitment and work ethic were deeply valued. Additionally, he served as a night watchman and was skilled as an auto mechanic, showcasing his diverse talents and steadfast dedication to his various roles.
Outside of his career, Jim was known for his love of fishing and hunting, passions that allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy the great outdoors. He had an aptitude for cooking, appealing to his friends and family with his culinary creations. Though he enjoyed these hobbies, Jim was also a proud homebody, finding joy in the comfort of his own space and the allure of movies. His affinity for film provided endless entertainment and sparked many conversations with those around him.
In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his sister, Virginia Stockdale, and his brothers, Ted Stockdale, George Stockdale, and Ed Stockdale.
Jim is survived by his beloved daughter’s Kathy Bassett of Keene, NH, and Magenta Anderson of Hancock, NH, his sister’s Pati Niskala, and Penny Stockdale-Gaspar, both of Jaffrey, NH. He is also survived by his partner, Debra Thompson of Troy, NH, and his precious dog, Lily. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim is also the proud grandfather to Katelyn Koski, Emily Desruisseau, Zachary Anderson, Riley Anderson, and Cody Anderson.
