Robert C. Heywood, Sr.

ROBERT C. HEYWOOD, Sr., 71 of North Street Jaffrey , died Saturday May 23, 2009 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough following a brief illness.

He was born March 3, 1938 in Gardner, MA son of the late Roy F. and Winona (LaQuire) Heywood, Sr.
Bob grew up in Ashby MA and has been a resident of Jaffrey since 1967.

In 1970 he began R.C. Heywood Contractors and has been a self employed contractor ever since.
Previously he had worked for Seppala and Aho Construction in New Ipswich for 13 years and had also worked at W.W. Cross Company in Jaffrey for another 13 1/2 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as camping in the White Mountains. Bob also loved tending to his garden at The Pit.

He is survived by his wife of forty three years, Della (Bunnell) Heywood of Jaffrey; three daughters Deborah McKee of Deland Florida, Charlene Scott of Keene, Patricia A. Heywood of New Ipswich; four sons Randell Heywood of Manchester, Robert C. Heywood Jr and Douglas J. Heywood both of Barrington, Jerry J. Heywood of Jaffrey; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers Raymond Heywood in 1975 and Roy F. Heywood, Jr in 1982; and his granddaughter Della J. Goodney in 1989.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Burns Institute, 51 Blossom Street, Boston MA 02114

Burial will follow in Conant Cemetery, Jaffrey.

Family and friends are warmly invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 south) in Jaffrey on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00PM. Pastor Albert Bunnell of Trinity United Methodist Church in Whitefield will officiate.
