After a brief illness, William ‘Bill’ Alden Sterling, 81, of Dublin, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side, on September 11, 2024.
Bill was born on May 28, 1943, in Keene, New Hampshire, to the late Harland and Grace (Castor) Sterling.
Bill spent his youth living in Keene and graduated from Keene High School in 1961. He played in Keene High School’s winning state championship football game that year. He attended Keene State College with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts.He taught shop/carpentry at Mahar Regional High School in Orange, MA, worked at Kingsbury Machine Tool and was with Sterling Quality Cleaners in Keene, NH until his retirement.
Bill had many interests. He loved skiing and the opportunity to ski with his brother in Austria, was definitely a highlight. Bill and Jeanne spent several years vacationing in Bermuda at Munro Beach. Enjoying golf at the Port Royal Golf course. In later years, he enjoyed tinkering with his model railroad collection. He would spend hours working on the many stone walls that grace the landscape and gardens.
In addition to both his parents, Bill is predeceased by his brother Charles Sterling, his sisters Anne Hall and Beverly Neff, as well as his beloved dog, Samantha (Sam) and cat, Alistair.
Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jeanne (Dubuque) Sterling with whom he enjoyed many adventures. He is also survived by his sons, Jere Worcester (Karen) of Gahanna, OH, and Matthew Worcester (Tatum) of Dublin, NH, his brother Edwin Sterling (Ruthann) of Athol, MA and sister-in-law, Joanne Stroshine of Keene. Bill also had the distinction of being the proud grandfather of Codie Harnish, Alison Worcester, Jocelyn Jeanne Worcester and Tyler Worcester. He was great-grandfather to Calvin and Amelia Jeanne Harnish. Bill also leaves behind his feline buddy, Jack.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 3:00PM at the Dublin Community Church at 1125 Main St, Dublin, NH 03444. Services will be officiated by Pastor Traceymay Kalvaitis.
Bill will be laid to rest privately on Monday, October 7, 2024.
